Himalayas Challenge as part of Living Springs' 25th Anniversary in 2014

This 25th Anniversary trekking adventure now has 10 people taking part and they are looking forward to an amazing experience, a goal to get fit for, and the satisfaction of knowing they are helping others via the funds raised.

The underlying aim is for those taking part to enjoy a personal challenge and for them to be a part of making a real difference to people's lives by helping to provide support in the community for vulnerable families.

The sponsored challenge involves flights to Kathmandu and Pokhara, and the treks include Syaull, Ghandruk, Tadapani, Ghorepanl, Poon Hill and Tirkedunga.

During the journey, the team will see stunning mountain views, birds of prey, trek through oak and rhododendron forests, sleep in lodges and witness beautiful sunrises and spectacular sunsets. Full details of the trek are available here

Chair of Trustees Robert Chapman says: "This trip of a lifetime is a great way to celebrate our past and to look to the future as we aim to help many more families in the next 25 years".

An extract from the itinerary gives a flavour of the experience:
Day 4: We start with a steady ascent up a stone staircase high above the river valley, looking out for the birds of prey! A short but steep climb leads us to Kimche (1,630m) where we can take a well-deserved break. We then continue on to Chane following a wide, well-defined path, and soon reach the largest village of the region, Ghandruk. This Gurung village is well known for the number of its men-folk who have served in the British Gurkha regiments. Our lodge is located in the heart of the village where we enjoy fine mountain views of Annapurna South and beautiful Machhapuchhare. #
